Evaluation Question Q2

Do they look like they are supposed to?

I strongly feel that our album cover, magazine advert and music video look as they are supposed to as a lot of time was put in to perfecting the look and style making all three products we produced fit its genera and even when we faced troubles with the photo editing software we didn't give up or compromise on the quality of work we produced, we worked through it to achieve the look we wanted even though this meant putting in extra time we felt that perfecting our work was well worth the time and i feel that it has totally paid off, leaving us with a very professional looking album cover, magazine advert and music video. We researched the genre with extreme detail noting down conventions we felt completed the genre such as pace of editing and match on action, we used both of these quite heavily as when we researched real media texts within our genera such as Nickelback-Rockstar we found that both of these techniques were used and it was really effective, and this is why we decided to incorporate them in to our music video.

Does your work resemble real media products?

I feel that our products do resemble other real media products as we completed an extensive amount of researched and multiple plans before isolating anything we and others felt were not part of our genre or were not creative. We then picked all of the good points from the different plans and real media texts we analysed, these were Nickelback and The Beatles, we then combined the conventions from the real media texts and our own creations and put them together in an artistic way that was unique to our music video. This is something we discovered when completing our research, that a music video will often have a significant creative feature,  for our video it was our flashback. we incorporated this as it fit in very well with our song and it also allowed us to explore and get creative with the editing software we were using while also complimenting our video making it far more effective. While we were doing this we were looking at other digipaks from our genre making sure we included things that we felt really defined our genre such as colour, costume and location. I feel that our digipak is of the same quality as other world renowned artists plainly due to the fact that we were able to set a tone throughout all of our products and show this quite clearly making it apparent quickly and there for making it stand out as if it was a real media text and this was achieved due to the strong brand identity created.

Do they all look like they are part of the same promo/ product?

By using similar colours and images in both the magazine advert and the album cover i feel that we created a strong brand identity and the fact that we used the album cover with in the magazine advert again reinforces the brand identity as they see part of the album within the advert.  we discovered that having the band members in the picture be the actual band members in the music video creates a real link between the music video, magazine advert and digipak. Another factor that show's a strong relationship between our album cover and magazine advert is the font type as this is a factor that just by looking at can allow a member of the audience to instantly recognise a product and there for the font can have a very strong relationship with the brand identity and that is why we decided to select a relevant font and use it throughout our products.

How effective are they as a combination?

As a combination i feel that they are really effective as they are able to maintain a strong brand identity which is vital for the products we produced but also because they epitomises the genra meeting a fair amount of rock stereotypes and complying with them but also applying an artistic twist applied to other stereotypes in order to make our products look unique. We incorporate our actors and band members to create enigma as this is a strong and effective way to create interest around a product and allows the advertising of the media product to shift from push marketing to pull as the audience become intrigued and want to find more about the band and album. We achieved this enigma as we begun to designed the magazine advert, with a simple touch of a hand coming out of the page with a 3D look we are instantly connecting to the audience by breaking the 4th wall and literally "reaching for them" we then combined this with a slice in the arm and blood spilling down the advert in order to complete the "3D" look and feel. i feel that this makes the audience think multiple things just by taking a quick glance at our advert. We feel that the 3D effect shows depth and like rock songs may show emotions that wouldn't normally be spoken about or tell stories that will shock as rock songs often deal with serious heart breaking events such as death and this is something that at one point in their lives our audence will have experienced and there for they will be able to relate to it. The only place in which i feel that our digipak does not live up to the reputation very well is its lack of a QR code on the magazine advert or even a website as this doesn't allow the audience to explore our products in greater detail where as if this was included they would be able to visit the website and get there hands on of additional content.

Overall i feel that our digipak and magazine advert do a great job of capturing the audiences attention, maintaing brand identity and intriguing the audence in to wanting to wach our video as it stands out above others both in and outside of our genra due to the artistic twits involved but also because our digipak and magazine advert creates such an impact on the audence at just a glance that they feel not only that the product is exceptional but it is something they can relate to and because of this we are enableing people outside and inside our target audience to connect with our product before even purchasing it.  i feel we achived this by many thing but the most prominent would be the use of young adults on our album as the primary target audence is 20-30 year old men so we have created another way in which they can relate with the album, magazine advert and digipack.

  1. you'll struggle to get anything above a C with no multi-media used

this is a bit brief - talk about the conventions you felt you had to use in each product in order to create a professional look.

what ties the 3 together and what perhaps would you change to improve the combination?
